A guide for leisure riders

Cycling in Mallorca

Cycling in Mallorca does not have to mean mountains and a stopwatch. There are back roads through the centre of the island, the car-free Via Verde in the east and coves to swim in along the way. This guide covers the regions, the best months, bike hire, helmets and trains. It is written by Uli and Stefan, who have organised cycling weeks on the island since 2010.

A tailwind on demand

E-bike holidays in Mallorca

E-bike holidays in Mallorca with us mean the same lanes, the same villages and the same coves, only with a tailwind at the push of a button. You stay in a finca or a petit hotel, the e-bike is waiting at the house on the evening you arrive, and Uli and Stefan are on the phone seven days a week. You set your own pace and your own breaks.

Our favourite loops

Cycling routes in Mallorca for leisure riders

The best cycling routes in Mallorca for leisure riders are not the mountain passes but the lanes in between: the car-free Via Verde, the old camins through the almond groves, the coast road from Cala Rajada to Canyamel and the pine woods down to the beach at Son Serra de Marina. Stefan has been riding this island since 1992. Here are the loops we send our guests out on.

Where cyclists stay

Cycling hotels in Mallorca: finca, village house, petit hotel

A cycling hotel in Mallorca, or Majorca if you prefer the English spelling, does not have to be a resort with a bike cellar. Ours are houses with a story: a 17th-century finca with a sea view, a manor house from 1887, a village house with a patio, a petit hotel in a former monastery. Every one has a bike store, the stages start at the front door, and we have slept in each of them ourselves.

Artà, Mallorca, by bike

Artà in Mallorca is a small town that climbs a hillside, with the fortified church of Sant Salvador at the top, a Tuesday market that draws half the Llevant, and more good restaurants than you can get through in a week. For us it is the favourite town in the east and the base of a cycling week that runs all year. You set your own pace and your own breaks.

Centre of the island

Sineu, Mallorca, by bike

Sineu in Mallorca sits right in the middle of the island, with the oldest market on Mallorca on Wednesdays, cellers serving frit and shoulder of lamb, and a railway station in case you fancy Palma on a rest day. From here you have Mallorca in every direction. We have been running our first hub tour from exactly here since 2010. You set your own pace and your own breaks.
